Noemaa ("Platform", "we", "our", or "us") provides an interactive clinical psychology simulation platform designed for psychology students, medical trainees, and mental health learners to practice clinical interviewing and empathic communication skills. We are committed to transparency regarding the collection, processing, and storage of data in our platform.
02. Information We Collect
When you interact with Noemaa, we collect information necessary to deliver the simulation experience, evaluate conversational technique, and maintain your account:
- Account Identifiers: Name, email address, authentication method, and unique user identifiers.
- Session Metadata: Selected simulated patient persona, timestamps, duration, and turn count.
- Supervisor Evaluation Outputs: Formatted supervisor feedback reports, competency area labels, and improvement recommendations.
- Technical & Telemetry Data: Browser session state and service diagnostic logs.
03. Account Information
When creating an account through email/password registration or Google Sign-In, your credentials and identity are authenticated via Firebase Authentication. We store basic profile records (Firebase User ID, email, display name, email verification status, and timestamps) to link your completed sessions with your student dashboard.
For email/password registration, Firebase sends a verification link to your email address. You must verify your email before starting a clinical practice session to ensure account recovery and communication capability.
04. Practice and Session Data
After completing a clinical interview practice session and requesting supervisory feedback, Noemaa persists the completed session summary under your student account. This includes:
- Session identifier and persona name (e.g., Avantika, Meera).
- Creation and completion timestamps.
- Session duration and total turn count.
- Supervisor evaluation output (overall reflection, competency ratings, question improvements).
Note on Transcripts: Full raw conversation transcripts are processed ephemerally to generate supervisory evaluations and are not retained as permanent historical records in student session history.
05. Voice and Audio Data
If you utilize the voice interaction mode:
- Your microphone input is recorded in short conversational chunks and transmitted securely via HTTPS to our speech-to-text processing partner for transcription.
- Audio recordings are processed in real time and are not stored permanently by Noemaa after transcription is completed.
- Synthetic speech generated for the simulated patient is streamed to your browser and not permanently archived on your device.
06. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect solely to:
- Facilitate interactive, responsive patient dialogue simulation.
- Generate actionable supervisory clinical feedback and educational metrics.
- Display your longitudinal practice history in the "My Progress" dashboard.
- Verify student identity and protect against unauthorized access or platform abuse.
- Maintain system reliability, monitor errors, and optimize response latencies.
07. AI & Third-Party Services
To provide realistic multimodal simulation and automated evaluation, Noemaa utilizes specialized third-party services. Each provider processes data according to their enterprise API terms:
Manages user identity, secure token generation, email verification, and password reset flows.
Powers the underlying language models for dynamic patient dialogue and clinical supervisor evaluations.
Provides real-time speech-to-text (STT) transcription of spoken student queries.
Generates expressive synthetic patient voice output (TTS) based on emotional state parameters.
08. Firebase Authentication & Passwords
Noemaa does not store or view your passwords. All password hashing, credential checks, and password reset emails are handled directly through Firebase Authentication using industry-standard security protocols. Google Sign-In authenticates through Google OAuth with cryptographically verified ID tokens.
09. Data Retention
Your account information and completed practice session records remain associated with your profile as long as your account exists. This allows you to track your historical progress, review past supervisor evaluations, and view longitudinal skill metrics over time.
10. Account Deletion & Data Erasure
You have the right to delete your Noemaa account at any time. When you initiate the "Delete Account" procedure from the student portal:
- Your account credentials are deleted from Firebase Authentication.
- Your student profile and all associated practice session history are permanently erased from Noemaa.
- Active in-memory simulation cache and session cookies are cleared immediately.
11. Data Security
We employ rigorous technical safeguards including encrypted HTTPS connections, cryptographically signed token verification, and strict user-partitioned access controls to prevent unauthorized access across student sessions.
12. Educational Purpose
Noemaa is strictly an educational training tool created to help trainees develop conversational rapport, empathic listening, and diagnostic questioning technique. Simulated patient characters and responses are entirely synthetic.
If you are experiencing a mental-health emergency or are at immediate risk of harm, contact your local emergency services or an appropriate crisis-support service in your country. Noemaa is not an emergency or healthcare service.
14. Children's Privacy
Noemaa is intended for university students, psychology trainees, and other adult learners. The service is not directed toward children.
